
2013 Air Show Week (Air Show & USO Show/Dance)
Welcome to the 2013 Virginia Air Show and Air Show Week. Air Show Week is a fun filled and educational week beginning Monday September 9th with aviation displays at the Samuel's Library and culminating with the Virginia Air Show on September 14th.
Thursday, September 12th Randolph Macon Academy will host the first annual Aviation Round Table. Aviators (male and female) from all four military services and the Coast Guard will talk about their careers in aviation. Attendees will then be provided a question and answer opportunity. Designed specifically for middle and high school students to familiarize them with aviation and aviation careers.
Friday, September 13th the Front Royal-Warren County Airport will host the second annual USO Show/Dance. Attendees will be treated to a fabulous show including a hot air balloon glow, Big Band Era 40's style music supplied by Jump Alley, a show by the Hub City Lindy Hop dance troupe, and even an air raid staged by a military vehicle club. Dance cards will be provided for the ladies by Media Bee Design. Food and a variety of drinks including beer, tea, and wine will be available for purchase. Half the ticket proceeds and beer sales will go directly to support our troops through USO-Metro.
Saturday, September 14th the Front Royal – Warren County Airport (FRR) will host the 2013 Virginia Air Show our sixth annual event. The 2013 air show will feature the renowned Flying Circus, Jane Wicker Air Shows wing walking, military aircraft, hot air balloons, gyro copter, glider, para-sail, helicopter, barn storming, wing walker, and biplane performances, multiple acrobatic aircraft performances, and a host of aircraft flights. Plus, there will be antique autos, aircraft displays, food, and just plain fun for the whole family. New for 2013 will be a WWII Spitfire and flybys by multiple aircraft.
From the beginning in 2008, the Virginia Air Show has worked to remember 9/11, promote aviation. and support our military veterans and those still serving. We are also continuing to support the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program.
Located in the Shenandoah Valley the airport features picturesque 360 degree mountain views and easy access to nearby Front Royal, route 66, route 81, route 340/522 and many area attractions.
